The 3-9/16” Norman was used as the industrial size brick. Only 3 brick are required per square foot. This brick has been commonly used for large buildings with the goal of reducing costs. The Rise to Run of this brick is 1:3 which is more institutional. When turning a corner the brick automatically creates a third bond pattern. These brick are frequently used as the starter brick to put the brick in running or half bond. At one time, this was the largest brick available but has since been replaced by the Emperor Sized brick.
